About the PTA
As a parent of a child at the school, you are automatically a member of the parent and teacher association (PTA) and so are the teachers.
Walberton and Binsted PTA is a very active association, that for many years, has raised important additional funds for the benefit of the children. As a non-political association of parents and teaching staff, our primary aim is to enrich our children’s school days.
In addition to raising money through many fun events, the PTA organises exciting educational activities for the children and social events for parents and teachers. This helps develop a relationship between staff and parents and others associated with the school.
The Head Teacher, Mrs Brockhurst, leads the PTA. The Head Teacher has the ultimate decision on all educational matters. The PTA does not get involved in school policy decisions, all funds raised and other assets provided to the school are for the benefit of the children. The chair, secretary and treasurer make up the main body of the PTA. There are also class representatives from each academic year. The class reps communicate the outcome of PTA meetings and planned activities within their year, such as collecting cakes for T@TP, organising volunteers for the fetes etc.
We need your enthusiasm to support and participate in the planning, organising and/or running of one or more of the activities. PTA meetings are held each half term and are supplemented with sub meetings to plan individual events. PTA business is discussed and agreed on in the meetings.
The key to the PTA’s continued success is YOU!

What we do and aim to achieve
There are so many talented and creative parents, also those who are willing to offer time, energy and specific skills to help keep the PTA successful and its objectives achievable.
The key to the success of the PTA is to have as many parents as possible donating their skills and time. This is especially beneficial in the planning and running of many special events such as:
Tea at the Pavilion (T@TP) after school on a Friday
Summer Fete
Christmas Fete
Easter Activities
School Discos
Movie Nights
Grand Draw/Raffle prizes
Tea Towel sales
Christmas Cards
The Giving Machine
100 club
Some of the resulting benefits for the children have been:
Fitness equipment for KS2
Annual author visits
Annual St. John Ambulance first aid training
New 'wet play' games
New music equipment
The Giant Seesaw
Christmas pantomime
Christmas nativity sets
Grotto gifts from Father Christmas and christmas crackers
Items for the environmental area
Sumdog subscription and maths upgrades
Equipment for the Early years outdoor area
New equipment for outdoor sports
New storage sheds to store all the new equipment
